Hello,I have a 501CM with a plain acute matte D screen. I am looking to get a new screen with a split image focusing. Is there much of a difference between the D screens and the regular acute matte screens?

Nope.
But the split image rangefinder (though not everyone's favourite) will make a huge difference.
