503cw jammed - HELP

BlueLemon

Member
I just jammed my 503CW with Winder.

I mounted extension ring 21 with a C version 60mm Distagon.

When i tried to exposure, the mirror went halfway up and jammed.... The winder tried continously to forward to bring the mirror all the way up - but its just stuck.

I previously have tried to unlock a 501cm succesfully..... but this problem I cannot.

The reason is both the the winder cannot be un-mounted because
1) 21 mm extensionring is in the way to unmount winder
2) The screw in the mirrorchamper is firmly stuck

Does any have any solution to this ? Is the 21 extension ring not compatible with the 503CW ??? hmmm

Well any help appreciated.....

Damn - you should never fool with you equipment on saturdays :z04_cowboy:

This sounds to me like a job for a qualified technician.

As far as I know there is no problem to use the winder with the 21 mm extension ring.

If I understand you correctly you mounted the ring with the lens together on the camera body?
That is against the method advised by Hasselblad:

First mount the ring or rings one at the time on the camera and after that fit the lens.

Taking the assembly off in one go is not recommended either.
Remove all elements one by one starting with the lens is the correct procedure.

Hasselblad states Carsten Goecker as service point in Kopenhagen.
This does not necessarily mean there is a qualified technician present.

Carsten Goecker
Hejrevej 37
2400 Kobenhavn
+45 35 82 11 00
email: carsten@goecker.dk

Thanks, but Goecker is a company who has no trained service personel.

Carsten is just a salesperson...

But thanks

That is currently a problem with most Hasselblad "service centers".
They simply collect gear and send it to Sweden for repair.

Only Kennedy Australia, Hasselblad Germany, Hasselblad UK and Hasselblad USA have staff that is qualified to service cameras.

There are a small number of independent service specialists in England, Germany, Holland and USA available too.

Possibly the condition of the batteries is the problem. If there is insufficient power in the batteries the winder will not complete the cycle. Maybe a set of new batteries and reset the cycle with the button that attaches the winder will do the trick. Check the manual for this problem, as I do not have one for my winder, for the specifics.

Ron

PS ..sorry, I didn't remember the winder was still trying to work, so the batteries may not be the problem.

Hey Ron

No batteries are not the problem now, but could have been initially.

I fed it with 6 brandnew batteries and tried to have the mirror go all the way down again.

No luck.

This 21 Extension ring goes directly to the litter when i have this fixed.... tried it too many times on the 501 (which I can "repair")

My luck is that i have found a guy who repairs cameras almost local - else I will ship to David Knapman in Sweden.

Hello Claus,

Most extension rings except the 8 mm have a spring to help turn the shaft that controls the lens cycle.
Could be this spring is tired or broken.

Do not discard the 21 mm ring!
It can be used to make an adapter that is often used to fit after market lenses to 2000 or 200 series cameras.

David is an excellent technician.
He is a technicians technician because he trained so many technicians world wide to service and repair Hasselblad cameras.

I hope your local repair man is able to solve the problem.
That would save quite some time.

Paul

It should be said that Goecker is located RIGHT NEXT to Hasselblad HQ. I mean, literally right in the neighboring building. I am surprised, they cannot service properly there, if that is the case.

V series

Keep in mind you are talking about the former Imacon premises.
I do not expect you will find anybody with knowledge of V series cameras there.

With the few exceptions I mentioned Hasselblad has concentrated all service for V series cameras to Sweden.
After the closing of their import companies in France, Holland, Belgium to name but a few they have expanded
their service facilities in Sweden.

It seems unlikely that they service gear in Denmark.
The CFV back is also serviced in Sweden.

Yes it is correct that every Hasselblad in for a service goes to Sweden - Both Goecker, CAV and Photografika uses Hasselblad in Sweden

Exept me .... I have found a somewhat local guy that repairs Hasselblad in Denmark. He´s very skilled and also cheaper.

PM if you need his service (wont put out his name on the net without his permission)
