501CM with a star on the nameplate

Quick question, does anyone have any ideas what the star means on some 501CM model bodies?.
It has a picture of a star right next to the 501CM badge.

The star means that the camera was intended to be exported to Japan.

Why these cameras (not only 501 CMs, by the way) need to be marked that way i don't know.

Thanks, it`s interesting that is the reason for it.
I guess there may or may not be a physical difference in the body itself, but likely a very minor difference if any, since it doesn`t seem to be advertised or readily known.

I was told:

"The Japanese cameras are identical to normal cameras, only the plate differs."

So just the star. Nothing else.

A good way to know which warrantee applies to the camera. That's what the star means...
