24 f3.5 cf

The description states that it only has three f/stops. That would be awfully limiting when I am taking photographs that include my feet.

I wonder which "technical and scientific applications" have good use for a lens like this?

Nordin says the lens was made for a "corporate customer" for an industrial application to be used on a 2000F camera. The glass has a tinted coating so that it is unsuitable for color film. ~50 were manufactured and a few had conventional shutters for use in non-2xxx cameras.

These lenses were designed on request from a tyre manufacturer to use for the inspection of tyres being produced.
Carl Zeiss developed these lenses as a special product.
There are a few different models some have a larger range of apertures, there are also a couple with leaf shutters.

In the end the company that ordered these lenses never took delivery of them.

I believe only 50 lenses were produced.

Thanks much, Paul. I didn't notice that would cause you trouble. Sorry about that.

Just want to share with you some interesting links about Hasselblad amongst a welter of information on the web.

Hope I can be qualified to post links soon.

Concerning the CF 24/3.5, actually I wanted to buy it coz the price is quite reasonable. However, the sample photo shows that its image circle doesn't cover 6x6 (maybe typical of all 300-degree fisheye?) so I gave up the idea.

Hello Hume,

No problem at all.
I noticed just in time you are not a spammer.

Thanks for the link. This comes from a world quite unknown to many of us.

The 24 mm lens is not meant for normal photography.
The lens has a special blue coating that will give incorrect colours.

Not all lenses have shutters which makes them only suitable for 2000 and 200 series cameras.

The one at KEH does have a shutter which makes it a rare version from a rare lens.

I can not say howlong it takes to have full acces without the risk of a temporary ban.
If you find an interesting link it is no problem for me to insert that in your post.
Drop the link in a pm to me I will see to it that it is uploaded in the post.

Why is it called "C"F lens as there is no shutter inside?
It's a F lens.
Is there any data on this lens ? Is it 180° fish eye or more ?
And the FTM as good as other zeiss lenses ?
Perhaps no so bad with a CFV and a software to convert fish eye pictures !

Thanks. It's not so expensive for that rare lens.
All 24mm 3.5 are conserned with blue lenses ? Artificial light film are not so pratical now.
Reasonable prise for unreasonable use !

Easy to correct the color cast when using a digital back.

With the CFV-39 the effective focal length would be 26.4mm.

Wow!!

Thanks for the link vandevantersh.

I was bemused by the question posted there about a hood!!?? I think they guy mistook the cap for a hood.... mmmm!

Anyway, I thought it was definitely a keeper so decided to buy it. With the Aussie $ at about 83c the price was very reasonable.

But, alas after more careful thought I reluctantly decided not to take it. Well I'll get over it and the 30mm is a treasure anyway. My decision was simple really.... I don't have the money !! :) :) :)

It would be interesting to know what the development and production cost was for that lens and the 50 produced. It would be interesting to see how $58k compares for just one. I wonder where the other 57 are??
