13 images on A12 back

Just got my film back from the lab. I was pleasantly surprised that there were 13 images on the film, not 12. I have the old back with the peephole in the center. Someone had a black insert covering the hole, so it was used in the past for 220, even though it is a 120 back. Is it normal to be able to get 13 images on the roll?

Quite easy to get 13 images on the older A12 backs because you could see the start of the film leader and reset the counter when it got to 12. As the leader numbers start, set the counter, rather than aligning number 1.

Never tried it with 220 though. Wouldn't there be a film plane positioning issue ?

You are right, if the film is not aligned according to the mark on the paper backing but spolled in less far the spacing becomes smaller.

Those shooting trannies often spool the film a little past the mark to get larger spacing between the frames.
