I would like to ask if is possible to preset aperture on that lens so I can use it for my 35mm digital imaging? It works wide open ,I would like to set it to f11 or maybe f5.6 to do some portraiture .
Thanks in advance
Greg

That's the bad point of converted lenses. Anyway you can set to 11 and then juste close when you take pictures. The 1000F works like this too.

BTW Zess make a new excellent 100mm 2.0 macro lens for Canikon witch is not AF but is automatic.

The depth of field on CF lenses is quite easy to use.
Slide the DOF control to the left and the aperture closes to the preset value.
Please note to release the DOF setting the LH side of the control should be pressed towards the lens body.

Any attempt to shift the control to the right will lead to unnecessary wear of the control.

Thanks for the reply I will not use this lens as a walk around lens but occasionally I would like to use it as portrait lens.

Hello Greg,

The 100 mm is not the most logical choice for portrait use.
That lens ist tack sharp with high resolution and as good as no distortion.
The 100 Planar was designed for NASA to take shots of the earth.

An older C 150 lens, preferably a silver version, is recommended for portraits.

Of course digital postproduction offers a wide selection of processing to adapt images.

I am an old hand who believes the original image should be as close to the endresult as possible.

Thanks polypal , this is what is so exciting about this lens I like when I take pictures of my grand kids and they pop out from the screen. Colour rendition is amazing.
