As I’m long sighted and need reading glasses, I don't like reading the lens focal length off the barrel. To be honest, I generally don't care that much as its the composition through the EVF that's important to me.
Some of my Nikon lenses have a small display on the barrel that can be set for focal length, but none of them show the set focal length in the eve or monitor.
So take an image ! of course.
But with the X2D2, look at the stabilisation menu...that shows the selected focal length and the value changes as you zoom in or out.
