Which ONE lens for portraits, fashion, weddings?

....so you have a H3D for example and you can only get one lens....i was thinking the 50-110mm would be perfect but at nearly 4kg the camera plus lens....wow.....so which one lens would you get to shoot weddings, fashion and portraits.....
