hello everyone,

maybe i should start by wishing you all the best for 2010!
and as an introduction: i just got myself a '72 Hasselblad 500C with interchangeable focussingsccreen!

Hasselblad_500C.jpg
  • Canon - Canon EOS 5D
  • 85.0 mm
  • ƒ/2.2
  • 1/30 sec
  • Spot
  • Manual exposure
  • ISO 1600

i've been shooting digital for the last 5 years,
though used to work analog for more then 15 years before that.
changing from fully automated to fully manual might be not that simple,
but i hope to learn lots about the cam and the system on this forum!

best regards,
maarten.

Thanks Maarten. Uploads help the forum to give complete posts instead of becoming Swiss cheese with lots of holes in it.

Nice camera, looks like a well used sample with lots of mileage left.

thanks,

the shade looks like it's been dragged and thrown around a bit
but the camera itself looks in pretty good condition.
i have a 12 and a 24A filmback with it.
(lost my first roll on the 12-back, it didn't seem to stop at "1")

going to have my first shoot with it this very evening!

Is it a "12" back or an A12?

The 12 has the little door at the back that is needed to set the film frame to nr 1.
After you see the "1" appear close the door and turn the rh key anti clockwise. The back is now ready for the first exposure.

A 12 backs use the arrows of the film to set opposite the marks on the insert.
After that you use the crank to move the film to frame nr 1.
Faster and less chance of a light leak from the peephole.

when i first got the filmback, i was not aware of an non-12A-back, so i got a manual for the 12A-back, which (obviously) didn't work for the older 12-back.
only after the whole film was wound through, i thought about that, so i rewound the film (in a dark environment) and put it on again.
i just got the developed film back and i think my rewinding went well, sincs there's no sign of contamination on the developed film.
now i got a 24A-back, on which i just loaded a 120 film, and it worked as it should.

The only disadvantage using an A24 back with 120 film is that you loose the last frame.
Paper with film makes the spacings a little too large which resultzs in loss of the last frame.
Other than that there is nothing against using 120 film in 24 or A24 film backs.
