Hi everyone,

well, title already says it all:
Looking for a nice 903 SWC.
If you have one for sale please let me know.

Cheers, Zwicko

But as I am located in Germany VAT+custom duties will add another 20%.

That is a real "killer". In many states in the US, on-line sales are still tax free.

Hello Steve,

Yes these rules apply to anything that does not come from within the EU no matter what the source is.
Only loophole you can get away with is a lower declared purchase price or declared value.
If the difference is too much customs will start an inquiry and set a value themselves.

Ebay? They ask you to show the purchase in evilbay.
Paypal? Show us how and what you paid.
We only get away with job lots for a declared value. They are difficult to valuate.
Do not try to import a 903 SWC for 500 USD, simply impossible.

Steve,
it is exactly as Paul said.
So buying from a source in the US means Dollars=Euros even if exchange rates are low.

Only potential way out: buy a cheap ticket to the US and hand carry it in an already well-filled camerabag.

Might work, but if you choose to take the "Nothing to declare"-exit and custom officials will examine your luggage it´s up to you to prove them that you have already owned the stuff you are carrying (receipts, proof of purchase,...).
In case you can´t prove it they´ll impose the above mentioned taxes as well as punitive duties.

With the current exchange + VAT + duty, it works out to be ~200 Euro less at this price range...There is a new on on E-bay for $3999.00

Hasselblad swc prices

I have noticed , that , apart from collectors items , the prices for good SWC SWC/M have gone up a lot . In E-BAY and other places .
A really good SWC is hardly to get under 2000€ . Sorry , regarding from my desired standard .

Here , an image of the first and last SWC beauties .

Hard to believe there is fifty years between these two cameras:
The Supreme Wide Angle is from 1954, the 905SWC is from 2004.

What is even more difficult to believe the 1954 SWA camera will give at least the same quality images as the last of the production.
The first Biogon was designed with pencil, paper and a ruler, the 905 was designed with CAD technology.

Thanks Jürgen for an excellent image of both these cameras.

Here in Denmark VAT is 25%. And to think I just ordered a Flexbody from the states. How stupid am I?...

Wow, euro duties and customs are harsh! It is here too, but someone wisely setup a freight forwarding service from the US to here by hand carrying stuff. We ask the seller to send the item to a US address, then the company hand carries it back here in a week. No customs, no taxes, no extra charges. I asked how it's done, and what the company does is ask travelers from the US coming here to hand carry the stuff for them, and in return, they pay for half the price of their ticket. Or they make deals with pilots and stewardesses to bring the stuff here (they don't need to pay anything to bring stuff anyway) .I don't know the exact process, but it goes something like that... I last had a lens shipped and paid $9 for shipping. I also had a MF folder with light meter, rangefinder and other stuff here, and I also paid about $9. Someone from Europe who travels frequently should setup that kind of business :)

Topic?

These posts come from the classified section.

I am quite easy about staying on topic.
I think this is too much for classified so please keep classified what it is meant for:
to offer items for sale or ask for things on your wish list
