Stuck Polaroid Back

Well, unfortunately, I lost the darkslide to my polaroid back on my 500C/M, which of course means its stuck on the camera and the whole system is basically rendered useless. I can't find anywhere local that has a darkslide in stock, and I have spent the last half hour basically ripping the back apart trying to somehow find the magic button to release it. Apparently the darkslide triggers some mechanism that allows the back to be released only when the darkslide is in place (just like the normal backs). Any suggestions? I have a photoshoot in an hour and would really love to use my hassy for it.

Looking for the darkslide in the last place you will look? That works for all missing objects, you know.

KEH has a polaroid darkslide in their backs and magazines accessories section. $4

In an emergency like this cut of the handle part of a standard dark slide and insert the flat part all the way into the pola back.
Use another darkslide to push the cut off one all the way in.

I tried doing something along those lines but the standard darkslide is about a mm too wide to fit into the pola back. Thanks for the suggestions. I basically destroyed the back trying to get it off the camera so im just gunna bite the bullet and buy a new one

Get a similar piece of sheet metal at a metal workshop and cut it to the right dimension
