(Still) Lovin' the 'Blad!

Hi guys! I haven't posted in AGES, so for that I apologize. To make up for it, I just want to say - I'm loving my 'Blad more and more.

I actually just a couple of days ago added another lens to the bag; the 250 CF. It joins my 50 FLE, 80 and 150 CFs, all mounted to a 503CW with film and CFV16 backs. I'm eager to try it out. :)

I use the camera most often with the 50 FLE and tubes in the studio for product shots in revews - almost all of them on La Vida Leica (ironically) are shot with this combo! Look in the "Reviews" section...

One day I might spring for the CFV39 or CFV50, who knows. For now, I'm absolutely in love with the output of the CFV16 (some of the richest digital files I've ever worked with) and really like that I can (at a moment's notice) swap out for color negative, positive or B&W film - and back.

Here are some older shots of my pride and joy:

Looks wonderful - glad you enjoying your blad!

The CFV-16 does yield amazing files.

Look forward to more posts :)

Thanks a lot! I've actually had the kit for a couple of years now (hard to believe). Now that the weather's turned nicer I plan to get out a little more with it again.

Some random shots, no particular rhyme or reason...

That is a great looking camera and a nice set of glass with it.

I have a 503CX and a 500ELM, I also use the CFV-16 but it needs a service soon as I have about 200 stuck pixels LOL, they don't really show up but I do enjoy the clarify slider in lightroom and then they shine out like a sky full of stars.

I must get around to taking some pics of my kit.

Nice photos too, well done.

Thanks a lot, guys! Much appreciated. :)

Yeah, my CFV16 has that "clock issue" and the LCD is a bit dim these days - but I don't think I'm going to send it in (as it's out of warranty). Still performs flawlessly. Bummer about the stuck pixels...

I have sorted the clock issue out, my friend is an electronic genius, he took it to work and modified it and now it works perfect, even retains memory after 1 month of not being used.

The pixel issue is a tough call, I might just send it back to get them remapped because I honestly love the CFV-16, its the square crop that does it for me.

Ahh, nice! I've been known to solder new batteries in before, but don't know if I want to open 'er up myself.

I hear ya - I love the square format of the CFV16 too. The 39/50 can do it, but end up tossing a lot of resolution in the process. That and the price have kept me from upgrading. Truth be told, the CFV16 is plenty for me and as I said - the output is just so nice. The only other camera(s) I've seen that come close are the digital Leicas (e.g. M8/M9) - my other shooters.

Spoke with a Hasselblad tech today and embarrassingly he sorted the problem for me over the phone. I had been doing a set of long exposures a while back and had set the back to 1sec exposure.. now its back on <8 and working like a dream again..

My other camera is also an M8 with 4 lenses (24 emarit asph/ 35 voigtlander SC/ 50mm zeiss 1.5/ leica 90 f4) I only use it in B&W mode and have also used it for IR stuff too.

Aparently, the charging circuit inside the CFV-16 does not have the guts to charge the battery properly so it eventually dies of starvation, he said he had replaced the battery and modified the circuit to charge at the proper rate, way above my head.

Hmm, that's some useful info all around. I might be good for a battery swap but modifying the circuit... Yeah, no...

Hey, at least it wasn't anything serious as far as the pixels. I'd rather be a little embarrassed than facing a hefty bill. :p

Nice setup on the M8! I still have mine as well. Been around quite a bit and hasn't missed a beat.

Nice to see some of your stunning photos here Double Negative, as well as on the Leica forum. Truly beautiful.

I have a 2000FCW and 500CM which go very nicely alongside my M9 and M6, only issue is deciding which to take....

Thank you so much, Will! :)

Likewise, good to see you over here too. I know, choice, choices... Right? Some Ms, a Hassy and even a Mamiya 7II in the mix. So many toys, err, tools - so little time. But it's if you ever get in a funk. Grab a random body and head out!

I assume you guys have all seen La Vida Leica? You're quite welcome to join up if you're interested.

I'm headed upstate this weekend for Memorial Day, and I'm thinking of bringing the Hassy gear to shoot nearby Letchworth State Park.

Hi Michael. Wonderful images! And congratulations on the CF250....the person you bought it from (Brian) is a good friend of mine. I haven't posted (or visited) here on the HasselbladInfo Forum for quite awhile either. Reminds me that I should get out and shoot with my 'Blads this summer.

This like new beauty is my latest Hasselblad purchase (also from Brian). I always wanted a black 503CW. :)

Thanks a lot, Gary! Indeed, I got it from Brian. Haven't really had a chance to get out with it yet... Maybe this weekend, hopefully.

That's a gorgeous setup! I really wanted an all-black myself... But when it came down to it, I just couldn't turn my back on the classic chrome. :)

Truth be told, I'd be pretty keen on the blue-leathered bodies with some chrome ZV lenses. Heh.

Oh yeah.....I've admired that blue 503CW with the silver Zeiss lenses too! What a beauty! It's on my Christmas wish list for a couple years.....still no luck however. :z04_9856:

Hey, even Hasselblads can take cat shots...

I wanted desperately to try out the shiny new 5,6/250 CF, but was too lazy and stuck in the yard poolside with a beer... ;)

This one was with the 2,8/80 and a tube:

Here are some shots from me taken with the 503CX and the CFV-16
I also have a 500EL/M with a Zeiss 150mm f4 that Im selling in the classifieds.
