Specific issues with used PCP-80?

Hi,

Are there specific issues to check on a used PCP-80? Is a regular functioning test with a slide enough?

Thanks for your opinions.

Wow, the "Rolls Royce" of medium format slide projectors :) Just as a curiosity, can you share how much this beauty costs? Thank you

Depends on what you PSP80 came with.
Is there a remote control?

I have a manual for the PSP 80 in case you need one.

Thomas,

if it comes with a lens make sure the correct condensor for this lens is included. It is hard to get.
The mechanics for loading the slides should work smoothly, no blockades. The lens can be tilted to correct for image distortions. I'd try this also.
No real issue, but the dust filter might need to be changed or cleaned at least.

Jens

It's also a good idea to check the lamp reflector. With age the silvered surface can become pitted and start to flake - like the one I have just purchased on eBay!! Anybody know where I can get it resilvered?

There are outfits that resilver old mirrors, they should be able to help.

Hi all,

Oh well, I am the proud owner of a PCP-80 now! :z04_discosmilie:

A mint one, with the box, 150mm lens, several trays & remote control!

I have one question : 2 or 3 slides (out of something like 80) did not show up. Black screen while they were loaded. Could it be an issue with the slide mask?

Another thing : is the condenser specific to the given lens? For example, the 150mm that came with my projector has a sticker with what looks like the real focal length (it is written : f=154.9mm). So, is the condenser adapted to it?

By the way, for some of you who are searching a PCP-80, I saw one at Camera & Darkroom in Albuquerque, NM, in last August . It was the first version (no selector for different voltage), in very nice condition, with a 150mm lens. It was offered ca. USD 1,300.00. As it had been a consignment for several weeks, I was told the price could be discussed...
