Hi Everybody!

I truly thought social media would help my commercial photography business. I know it works for some, for me it only wasted my time. So, now that I'm no longer looking for work I have dumped all that stuff including my Wordpress blog. For me retirement = switching gears has turned into a start over event. Last year I started a substack page ( https://substack.com/@deonreynolds ). I use it to replace my Wordpress blog. I was unhappy with them since they want me to pay or put ads in my posts. substack is free and is oriented towards writers but works fantastic for any creative (I'm noticing lots of photographers starting pages). I'm posting mostly photographic locations I've enjoyed over the years (heavy on images). Not much in the way of technical posts, for those I'll keep them here on medium format forum.

That's a great move. I love how you're focusing on sharing locations with heavy image content instead of technical stuff.

I no longer do any social media. The above substack is gone. I'm getting close to finishing an entirely new website...

Social Media activity has really in the last year or two. But I have found my Flickr account that was quite inactive has suddenly become more active with a lot more interest and comments than on instagram or facebook! So I'm turning my attention there now, not that it results in much work, but it's nice to be noticed a little. Luckily, word of mouth, is starting to bring jobs in so it keeps me level pegging with my bills.
