Phocus 1.2.1 Released

Steve

I have installed the new version since a couple of days , but I do not understand the "readme" section about the NEW FEATURE SINCE 1.2

Also , I can not learn much of the USERS MANUAL .
Might be that the new V lens correction paragraph is not added yet .

So , up to now , I would not be able to do a lens correction , because I just do not know how to do it .

A new learning curve .

I am glad that you mentioned this. I thought that I must be a total moron for not knowing how to do CZ corrections..it is not in the manual. The only info on CZ lenses is that the CFE 40 IF is not available. Hopefully someone will give us a quick "How to do it".

Good to know , that I am not the only one . No , we are no morons .

I am shure , that Paul C (HUSA) will take care of this issue soon .

Hi,

There is a new V Lens Correction Tool available from the Drop-Down List of tools (click on the small drop-down triangle just left from the Export Tab)

The lens is not automatically recognized, so you have to select the lens
that was used for the shot, see screen shot of the V Lens Correction tool
below.

I'm wondering if that tool only works with the new CFV-39 or also with the CFV/CFVII ?

Regards,
Ralf

V-lens correction tool

Ralf

Nice to see you back .
Thank you for that hint . I have tried it out . O.K.
These little white arrows are so small that you very easily just don't see them .

Nevertheless , we are no morons . This should be decribed in more detail , either in the readme section of PHOCUS or in the PHOCUS user manual .

The lens correction is independant of the CFV back type and therefore can be used with CFVI/II or with the CFV-39 .

Oh this is a pity. It seems that the DAC in Phocus will only work when outputting TIF's, it is not applied when outputting DNG's. I suppose this is to be expected since DNG's are digital negs, but I don't like doing corrections in Phocus, so I won't be able to use the DAC features. It's a pity Phocus does not import TIFF's, then at least the distortion correction could be added later, post-Lightroom.

It's raining "cats and dogs" so I played with the live view function of 1.2.1. My previous experiences with live view and previous releases of Phocus were not good. Trying to do critical focusing (CFV) was frustrating and not useful due the time delay in focus change and the display. 1.2.1 has shortened the delay enough that focusing in the "real world" is potentially a useful function.. Focusing with magnification seems to give very precise results. The "speed" was similar with both MacPro and Mac Book Pro.
