Out and about with a 350/5.6CF

It was horrible weather, the light was dim and flat ... and it was starting to snow.

Who cares ... out I went with my 503CW CFV and 350/5.6CF (store front done with a 50/4CFi)

Hi Mark! I just bought one of these. Haven't used it yet. Wasn't impressed with the close focusing distance. I see you have an extension tube there. How well do you think it hangs off the camera in real use without a tripod mount?

Lens isn't that heavy ... but I think one of the mounts from some 70-200 zoom works with some modification.

The tube is a 8mm which tightens up the close focusing.

Thanks Gary. I'm not one for landscapes ... others are so much better at it. But I try to evoke some sense of the place I'm in.

The Print of the "Bench" shot really came out nice. Really conveys a pictorial feeling of depth when printed large. I printed it toned (like shown here) on Crain's 17" X 22" Museo Silver Rag, and damned if it doesn't look like a silver print.

The Store Front shot looks more like it was shot with film than digital IMO. The CFV is the only digital backs that seems to consistantly deliver that look. I once had a Leaf Aptus 22 that sort of provided the same feel.

Here in Detroit, there is doom and gloom, and if the auto companies go down, we'll all be SOL.

Matters not whether it's a landscape, or other, I'm always pleased to see your work. Your images are a joy to behold.

...... and damned if it doesn't look like a silver print. Until you go into the darkroom and make that silver print, maybe. You know your beans, so the digital prints must be good by any standard. My daughter displays 4 silver portraits from a Rolleiflex shoot in a frame that I printed and they stop me in my tracks every time I see them.

It's amazing. Every time I question whether it needs to be replaced, it provides it own answer. Shot some trucks with CFV and M8 recently ... absolutely no comparison, IMO.

Running scared. Pound is taking a beating and people in really secure employment are being cautious. My wedding bookings are on target, but they were booked before Lehmans.

Lovely images Marc.

From warm Melbourne (34C today) it's "refreshing" to see some snow! Looks like Jurgen's back yard in Algovia right now!!

I've just got some slides back from a trip so will post them soon.

Your idea of taking the CF350mm for a stroll is one I often enjoy - select one lens and go for a stroll and see what you can do with it. I did that while I was away - one day just took the CFE80mm saying to myself "now see what you can do with that today" - visited a closed high security prison and a light house.
