I bought a B50 front cap from the 'bay but it doesn't fit on my B50 C lenses. Compared to the other B50 cap I have, it looks to be about 1mm smaller in outer diameter. Logo looks right but the colour seems a little on the brown side of gray. Was there such a thing as a B49 lens cap? Is is possible that the cap has shrunk?

Some older, especially grey, lens caps do seem to have a problem with fitting.
There are only B50, B60, B70 bayonets for Hasselblad lenses
The smaller series VII have a thread as do 86 and 93 mm lenses.
Not to mention the B104. That is a rare one only used with the C 40 mm Distagon.
Forget about a caliper to check the sizes.
None of them are correct: B 50 is about 57 mm and so on.
