New to Hasselblad

Hello,

I just purchased a 503cx, and I am excited to use it. My background has been 35mm SLR, DSLR, and rangefinders. So to me, the Hasselblad is very different, almost like learning to speak a new language.

I hope these differences would enable to to expand my photography in different and new directions. I look forward to learning and sharing with this group.

Welcome to the forum, Talex. What an odd camera, that Nikon 35Ti on your website. I love the analog display on top, though. Is that an APS camera? (I ask only because I noticed the "panorama" switch on the back). Happy shooting! We'll be learning to speak the "new language" of medium-format and Hasselblad together.

The Nikon 35Ti is a 35mm film camera. The "panoramic" mode is just panoramic cropping on a regular 35mm frame.

Yes, I love the old-school appeal of the analog display-and I find it very intuitive to understand too. This camera has a gem of a 35mm/2.8 lens, with aperture priority mode, manual controls, and Nikon's most advance matrix meter ever in a compact camera. Plus, they put that whole package in a titanium clad body too. Nikon did not screw around with this one.

I recently took my 503cx to Hawaii, and I discovered I was not very good at using it. I found it a bit too large for travel (I tend to travel light). Maybe I will keep this as more of a studio camera. I picked up a Fuji GA645Wi (the wide angle version) for my travel medium format kit. It is a lot lighter, and plus it is basically flat, so the Fuji is easy to travel with.
