is the 2" screen on the H3D-31 on-the-go usable?

.......I'm finally deciding on whether to get an ex-demo H3D-31 (NOT the II generation with the bigger screen)...the 2" screen is thus an issue i want to have clear in my head....the question is simple.......

DOES THE H3D-31 DISPLAY THE IMAGE YOU HAVE TAKEN PRETTY MUCH AS IT ACTUALLY LOOKS and thus you make decisions on exposures etc as you go along
.....

Important: I use a Hasselblad HM2 magnifying hood I still have from when i had a 503CW and I use that to view images as I take them to block out sunlight, etc...this works great with the Nikon D300 screen I have.

Can I use this and thus be able to get over the 2" screen....its not the size that worries me its the rendering of the image.....

PLEASE HELP!! thanks for your comments......

No, not for the H3D/31, at least not like the current Nikon screens you are used to. The H3D-II/31 LCD is closer to the 35mm DSLRs. However, I don't think any LCD rendering is all that accurate, including on my Nikons ... and tend to rely on a histogram reading which is far more accurate. I use the LCD for composition and lighting effects. The Histogram on the H camera is readily available immediately on the grip LCD without entering the the main LCD menu which displays the image with no distractions.

The screens on most all of the Medium Format backs tended to lag those on 35mm DSLRs. The newer on the H3D-II version is much better that the model you are considering.

I have no idea why they lagged, except maybe because a majority of MFD back users shoot tethered in the studio where the LCD screen is meaningless. Untethered shooting with MFD is a relatively recent aspect compared to 35mm DSLRs.

so are you saying its not an issue to worry about?

I wouldn't worry about it, but I'm not you. You seem to rely on the LCD more intensly than I do. I'm a Histogram reader mostly ... when I even bother with it.

You get to know these cameras after awhile and come to trust them. Without a doubt, when you open the H images they look better than they did on the LCD ... where I find the Nikon images looked better on the LCD than they do when you open them.

hahahahaha...yeah I know what you mean sometimes!!!!! thanks so much for your help man.....I really have to start getting used to reading histograms...I mean, I can read them but they dont talk to me as clearly yet....its like someone speaking on a mobile phone nearly out of coverage at the moment...i get what they're telling me but there's no clarity.....

I see many have Hasselblad 503CW/CWD, so is it the best camera from Hasselblad? i made my decision and bought H3DII 39, but i was looking at that V system from Hasselblad and i saw many photographers have this camera system more than H system [mostly H3D the new or old], so that i am asking you, what making you to upgrade from 503CW to H3D?

Adding a CFV to my 503CW was the most cost effective way to go MFD 1 1/2 years ago. If I was starting from "scratch" today I would get the H3dII/31 and a CF series lens adapter for my 1/2 doz. Zeiss lenses.
