i just got my 30-90 4.0 ... i camera shop called and its finally here...slapped on a new 95mm helopan..just in case.. so i will get it through its paces ..see how it is... i have a fashion shoot on thursday..

1st impression is it not as bulky or heavy than the 50-110.. i really like the 35 side...its like my canon 24-70 ..in what i see.. (perspectively)

35-90

Waiting for your comments and a few samples after a serious session. I hope it's good value for money, and considering its price, it better be!

its not as heavy as the 50-110..cause tell you..shooting vertical for about 50 shots that camera starts to weight a lot...my shoulders start to burn.

the photos came out fairly sharp..but mind i was spoiled rotten with the 100 mm...now thats a crazy sharp lens...

i would put it about 85% of the 100mm sharpness..it performed more like the 80mm in sharpness...

it was great having a lens be able to go tighter on the subject without changing lens...although there should be something sticking out of the lens for the zoom..i say this cause the camera is heavy and the lense too..so zoom might be a bit of a problem considering your only holding on the battery to support all that weight..for zooming and recomposition...

focusing was fairly fast...and accurate...it was not as slow as the 120mm...yup i rented that one also..

overall..its a great lens to tug all over the place...its like the 24-70mm of the canon...

Opening issues...its faily limited indoors if you want shots on just natural light..the opening is only 4.0 but not much more of a difference than that of the 50-110...you definitely have to use a flash indoors with this lense.

i give it about b+ a-

35-90

Hi - keen to hear any more feedback on the 35-90. Toying with it for the studio - but big outlay (almost £5K here). Lemonlib - are you happy with the purchase a few months on ?
Rgds
