I fell off the wagon again!

Member
It started small.

I bought a 55 mm extension tube for the Hasselblad.

Then I bought the other three tubes: 8mm, 16mm, and 32mm extension tubes.

Then I bought a back cover for the Hasselblad body, just in case I needed it.

Then I bought two new darkslides.

Then I bought two A-12 film backs.

Today I had a major G.A.S. attack:

I bought a Hasselblad 903 SWC. and I still have G.A.S.!

Help!

Steve

Hello Stever,

You are doing just fine.
You forgot there are also 10 mm and 21 mm extension rings.......

The darkslides are probably the best investment, the 903 is by far the investment that will give most satisfaction.

Keep up the good work!

Please have a look to the HASSELBLAD home page and carefully read the user manual for extension rings (V-SYSTEM) which you can find under download manuals .
Especially , in which sequence to attach and detach the extension ring and the lens to the body .

What is a G.A.S. attack ? ? ?

The Hasselblad repairman at Samys Camera checked out the rings and attaching multiple rings. He went through the sequence with me.

Add the SWC focusing screen adapter and 6 cm x 6 cm negative carrier for my Omega XL5 Super Chromega Dichroic II.

And the beat goes on ...

"Shoebox" is a painful reminder of a nice SWA camera that once was to be Juergens pride and joy.

The seller, owner of a photo shop in the Hamburg area, shipped this piece of Hasselblad heritage in a totally unsuitable box.
It arrived damaged and was returned to the seller.

Lets hope one day a worthy replacement for this unfortunate camera becomes available.

Superwide history

SWC/M 1980-1988

903 SWC 1988-2001

905 SWC 2001-2006

SWA and SW cameras are rare beasts.
Less than 1500 were produced.
Despite their age they perform just as well as later super wides.

Victor Hasselblad showed the first SWA to the public at the Photokina of 1954.
This camera is built around the fabulous Biogon lens designed by Dr Ludwig Bertele at Carl Zeiss Oberkochen in 1953.
Carl Zeiss asked Hasselblad to design a camera around this lens.
That became the camera we know as SWA.

This design with its many upgrades lasted over 50 years despite its hefty pricetag.

G.A.S. attack

Buy two X-Pans and call me in the morning.

Steve
That won't work , because I fall off the wagon once a week and so iI will end up with loads of X-PANS . This in turn is the G.A.S. again . Never ending .
Puuuuuuuhhhh .

Stever,
you seem to just be suffering from mild GAS. So at this stage no medication is required.
Had you looked at the A12s you bought and then realised you need 2 new bodies for them; then decided that a chimney and a PME45 are necessary to enable "closure" that day, then I'd diagnose severe GAS.
Severe GAS requires heavy doses of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs.
:z04_9856:
The anxiety hits first because you feel out of control; it is followed by depression as your control improves; but, because your needs are unsatisfied, depression is unavoidable.
:z04_hinterherjagen:
This syndrome explains why in the more extreme Hasselblad GAS problem cases wives treat their obsessive compulsive husbands with small lead pellets. These are release from double barrell shotguns at high speed!
Then they become remorseful and make a final tribute to you by placing all your Hasselblad gear on top of your coffin to be burried with you!!
