Just joined the forum but have been using medium format for many years. I have been both a professional as well as amateur. The difference is one gets paid the other does it for pleasure. I have used 6 x 7 and 6 x 4.5. I just recently bought a Hasselblad 503 cw, to try the vaunted square format. I started back in the 80's with Mamiya 6 x 4.5's. I eventually graduated to Pentax 6 x 7's. Now making a foray in to the realm of the 2 1/4 x 2 1/4. Shades of Adams, Newton and all the others famous for their use of the square format.
