Great Basin National Park is located in Nevada right up against the Utah border off US-50 the "Loneliest Road in America". This is my absolute hands down most favorite National Park in the system (we have visited every park west of the Mississippi). Why you ask? It's empty! Trish and I where Artist in Residence in the Park in 2007, we hiked every trail in the park and had private access the Lehman Caves to photograph. Some of the trails were so unused we totally lost them, there is no cell service in the park, but I'm into paper maps and a compass = no worries. This image was created while working on my NEVADA book, before we lived in Nevada.
