If you are registered, you get access to the members only section, can participate in the buy & sell second hand forum and last but not least you can reserve your preferred username before someone else takes it.
The new 150N may indeed be better, but for portrait work it probably doesn't make much difference since who cares about the corners? In fact, I often vignette and soften the edges even more for portrait work anyway.
The new 50-II is another matter ... that lens is visibly better across the board ... but you sure pay a premium for that privilege.
The other question is whether these improvements aren't aimed more at users of the H4D/60 or 50MS/200 ... and beyond, where the difference may show up more over the 31/39. It may be a big fat waste of money if not shooting with a super hi-res back locked down on a tripod with a cable release.
And so you should be..... they are fine tools.... as your photos show!
I sometimes feel that at times we get too hung-up with equipment perfection than actual photography...
