Format blind issue with XPan II?

I have the strange effect that from one film to another, the width of the exposed slides sometimes vary, unfortunately resulting in a slightly smaller image size 9 films out of 10. In general the unexposed part between two slides is about 3-4mm wide (resulting in a 63 mm slide) and only infrequently about 1.5mm (giving the expected 65mm slide). By the way: I am shooting Velvia 100.

Is this a known issue with the XPan II or do you have the same effect? I know its not a big deal, just wondering...

Kind regards, Gerhard

Not a typical problem as far as I know.
I will ask my technician who spent 2/3 of his life with Hasselblad.
That does not say much but he is in his sixties now......

Hello Gerhard,

Good news and bad news.
The good news is the exposed area should be 65 mm.
That leaves the bad news, there is something wrong with your Xpan camera.

It could be a sign of more problems to come.
Looks like your Xpan could do with a service.
Besides problems occuring now and then with the range finder the bodies seem to go on forever without complaints.

Hello Vic,

thanks a lot for clarifying the matter. I think I'll contact Hasselblad in Germany and sent my Xpan in for service. Hopefully it does not take that long.

Cheers, Gerhard

Give my regards to "Ahrensburg"

Herr Carsten is no longer in charge of the service department.
He enjoys a well earned pension.
Ulf Kuehn is his successor.
