Focusing Screen

I recently bought a Hasselblad 500cm production year 1985, and I think it has an older style focusing screen in it. I find it hard to focus at times. Attached is an image of my screen in the body.

My budget is tightening as I've just bought a kit plus another lens, so I'm looking at this used one. It is listed as an Acute-Matte focusing Screen, grid /split image, 42165. Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone

Arthur

I bought one of these from ebay and on receipt I ordered another for my other body. Yes it's not a genuine Blad screen but it seems to work fine and the 45 degree split image works a treat, the only issue is with my 250mm f5.6 lens where one side blacks out unless I have my eye in the correct place.

Ed,

I've contemplated buying one of these screens from Ukraine. Many people say don't buy them because they result in improper focusing. Others say they work fine. I guess since you ordered another one, you stand behind them?

Well, the first one works okay.

The ones mentioned in evilbay are Chinese made and do not offer a brighter image.
On the contrary they seem less bright than the original early Hasselblad focusing screens.
Focus is definately out which means the body needs to be aligned to China standard.
Not my cup of tea.

My advice:
Stick with original Hasselblad screens or American made focusing screens from Bright Screen or Beattie.

hey arthur,

try finding an Acute Matte non-D. you should find those for less then €40- €50, about half of the D-versions.
it seems they're just as bright too! i have one ;)

I am glad the "K" word has not been used (yet).

Please note the use of that word means an immediate ban for 90 days. :z02_banned:

:z02_mod_boese: signs says: Careful angry moderator.

Anybody suggesting K*** devices have anything to do with Hasselblad will be sued. :z02_deal:

Sorry, I simply had to get this of my chest.
I am a reasonable guy as long as I am not confronted with those horrible things. :z04_explodieren:

That is an old-style screen indeed. If you can do without the split / grid, I have a plain Acute Matte-D on sale, see the Classifieds section.

Finally made a decision

Thanks for the feedback. I just ordered a used BRIGHTSCREEN 20/20 #5 SPLIT/MICROPRISM. I think it will satisfy my need for a brighter screen and a way to accurately focus.
