flash for 1000F - how?

1000F

Hi guys - It's been a while since I posted here but I have recently been re-inspired after assisting on a fashion photo shoot for a friend of mine a few days ago.

The shoot involved a simple flash setup which got me thinking of how I could possibly get something like that to work with the 1000F - a friend of mine is getting rid of a studio flash and umbrella so it would be nice to use it with this as well as my digital gear. I know there are flash contact/shoe/etc things available (such as here, for example: http://tinyurl.com/2frpfod) but even If I were to aquire something like this I would still be at a loss in understanding how I could get it to work with a modern system (be it wirelessly, or using cables).

Does anyone have experience with this? is it even possible or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

Thanks in advance.

If your 1000F is working fine, it may be OK. Anyway the max speed for the 1000F must be 1/30 for electronic flash.

Thanks for the speedy response and flash sync speed info. With regards to the connection between the camera and the flash system - The contact posts look alien to me as I only have experience with the modern hotshoe type. Is there a specitic connector or adaptor that I need to get hold of to connect the vintage equipment with modern gear?

Apart from the adapter you posted the URL for there also exists a version that will fit "normal" sync cords.

The adapter with PC style contacts and a simple wireless system offers the safest and easiest operation for a studio flash.
These wireless systems are offered at several auction sites for around 30 euro.

The adapter is rather rare and needs more time and good luck to find.

Of course five minutes is arbitrary, how about ten?

Thanks again for the advice, guys. After a quick look on ebay and looking more closely at the pictures, this looks like it has the right contacts, although please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong:

Yep, that is the sportsfinder/sync-contact combo solution.
