Hi

I have recently bought a 500c with a 80mm synchro compur 2.8.

However i can;t get my head around how it works...

How come the shutter speed and aperture are on the same ring and how do you select them seperately? For example how do i have a shutter speed of 500th and an aperture of 2.8?

The ring doesn't even turn round to a 500th it stops at 30th...

You have to disengage the lock that couples the diaphragm and the shutter speed ring. Then you can adjust shutter and aperture independently.

You do this by pulling the chrome tab on the aperture ring towards the camera body. The tab sits right from the 2.8 mark on your lens IIRC (I only have a C150 left, all my other lenses are CF/CB models these days).

Getting a copy of and older version of the "The Hasselblad Manual" book by Wildi is highly recommended. Older version because you want detail on an old camera, not on the new models.

I have managed to make sense of it now! Phew

One more thing...
When i press the shutter the curtain doesn't flip back until i take my finger off the shutter release, is this right?
 
yes it is!
you'll see the red stripe by the slowest shutterspeeds.
that's to warn you not to let go of the shutterbutton until the shutter is fully closed again.

do you have a manual with the camera?
all this is well explained in it.
