Extension tubes

Hi

I'm new to hasselblad and hope anybody with experience can help. Does a medium extension tube of lets say 26mm affect image quality a lot in the hassy world? (I've got a h4d-31 80mm). How much closer can you get? And are there any chep non-hasselblad brands out there?
I used to have extension tubes for canon, but have no idea about tubes regarding hasselblad. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello Kai,

There are no optics in an extension tube and therefore no image degradation.

Here is a datasheet for the H System extension tubes, metric.
The cost for Hasselblad extension tubes are relatively inexpensive. To my knowledge there are no third party extension tubes for the H system.

If they are not that expensive it should be easier to test them out.

With the extension tubes I've used for canon it did affect image quality with the longer tubes (even with good optics). Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the tubes enlarge any distortions in the lens?
I've only tried the hc 80 mm, and the results are amazing! So surely the distortions would be minimal with even better hc lenses? And what about vignetting with tubes on a medium format?

Kai,

You have an advantage with the H4D system. When using Hasselblad Phocus software you have a DAC (Digital Auto Corrections) tool, when enabled (checked) the software will correct for:

1. Chromatic Aberration
2. Lens Distortion
3. Vignetting

All HC/HCD lenses as well as all combinations with Extension tubes, Tele-converters and the HTS 1.5 have been mapped and DAC will be applied.
