Epson V750 question

I scan with the above mentionned scanner and it works very well, in my view. However, I'm a little frustrated with the fact that I can't scan the entire 6x6 negative INCLUDING a couple of millimeters of black surround.

I can't find any parameters to 'turn off' the automatic resizing of the scan area.

I very much like the idea of being able to scan a little bit of the black border of the image area - for instance, to show the VB cutouts in the image frame.

If anybody has any clues, I'd be grateful for advice.

(I fully realise I can probably do this if I were to scan without using the neg holders, but I'd prefer to avoid this if possible.)

EDIT: Can't imagine why I put '750' in the title - mine's a 700...still works fine though !!

not sure about the software you are using, but having used older epson scanners/software (ala 4990, etc) there is an option where you select or unselect 'automatic thumbnails' that will do..

otherwise there used to be 2 different options: scan with film holder or scan with area guide, one of the two does what you want...

check your user manual...

UPDATE: I found how to do it, thanks in part, to CS_Photo ! Sadly it's not as simple as previous models, but it does work. Great, now all I have to do is re-scan all my stuff...!!

Hi Sportback. I have the same scanner and really like it. Could you share your learnings with us re how to include a bit of the black border, so we don't all have to figure it out for ourselves? Many, many thanks!!!!

Here goes (Please forgive me if the translation isn't exact - I use a French version...!)

Mode 'professional' - un-check the box at the bottom of the page, to the left, marked 'thumbnails' or miniatures.

Modify the 'document size' (Half way up the page) to 60 x 60 mm

When you click 'preview', the preview page is now horizontal with a display of the negative holder and the film strip (Instead of individual frames)

Move the dotted white 'zone' box to the frame you require - you can resize it to include the border - and press 'scan'

This method is slower than using thumbnails (as you have to scan frames individually) but the border is back!!

Be careful to correctly align the strip in the holder - otherwise you'll need to rotate the resulting scan in photoshop...

(I forgot to mention below, that the document dimensions are 'greyed out' until after the preview has been displayed...)

you used to be able to control drag as much 'selections' as you liked...

---the same as you select different files on the OS.--- (windows control+click / mac command+click)

so you can in fact scan multiple 'selections' in one pass....

Thanks - I was principally concerned with individual scans, but of course one could scan three negs with a rectangular zone and simply 'cut' into seperate images afterwards.
