is it possible to use the CFV II with firewire 400 (the manual only mentions FW800), since my notebook does not have FW800 ? Suitable adapters seem to be available.
Don't know for sure but as far as i know Firewire 800 hardware is not backwards compatible (it will not work on firewire 400)
but remember that the only use of the firewire 800 connection is for tethered shooting, so not having a firewire 800 port will not stop from actually using the CFV

*******
From the CFII manual (page 21):
FireWire connector (19)
Allows the connection to a computer or ImageBank-II. The digital
capture unit requires an 800 connecter whereas the computer can
be either an 800 or 400.
The cable that came with my CFV was (bi-lingual) 800 on the CFV end and 400 on the computer end. The picture in the CFV II seems to be the same cable.
I received my CFV-II and had indeed no problems with connecting it to my firewire 400 notebook port. The downloading images through a firewire connection even seems to be faster than reading the CF card with a card reader.
