Diopter Correction on 45 Degree Prism

I have an ancient Hassy 45 degree prism finder. The eyepiece can be removed and the lens in there looks to be around 24mm diameter. I'd like to substitute a corrective lens in there to avoid having to struggle with bifocals to focus. So, a couple of questions:

Would this be a standard Hassy lens?
Can anyone suggest a source?
How do I find out what diopter number I need?

Thanks,

Tim

Hard to help you as even for new standard viewfinder, I've been told that's impossible to find it new. It existed but now..
However, as you noticed you can add a 24mm lens on the wiefinder that can be made as lens for google at a optician. If you give your usal google they can mesure the dioter you need

Older Hasselblad 45 degree prisms took diopters. They were just a piece of glass without a mount. You can unscrew your eyepiece and disassemble it, then replace the standard glass with your diopter. You can still find these diopters on ebay and elsewhere. You have to be careful though as the diopters are unmarked. Only the box is marked with the strength of the diopter. Sometimes the diopter inside is different than is labeled on the box. Are you nearsighted or farsighted?

Correction lenses for eyepiece

Hasselblad used to supply a full range of correction lenses for early prisms.

I have a selection of correction lenses available for early prisms like the NC2, VFC 6, PM(E), PM(E) 3 etc.

Dioptres go from -4 to +3
Most values available, new boxed with fitting instructions.

Check the prescription of your glasses or have the glasses measured to find out what dioptre you need.

Fitting is quite easy.
Send me a pm for more information.

Correction Lenses for Eyepiece

Thanks for the info guys. It's off to the optician. I'm nearsighted - or shortsighted in England - so does that mean + or - diopters?

Tim

Nearsighted means a -diopter.

Just checked my correction lenses.
I have -1 and -4 available.

Far sighted is a common problem that has to do with age.
