Bright Screen installation

Just got a mint Bright Screen brand focusing screen. It has the large center spot, not the split image. No instructions came with it. I was not sure which way to place it into the camera. There is a dull side and a shinny side. When the shinny side is up, I notice writing on the bottom of the frame. I assumed this is the way it should go into the camera, with the shinny side up and the writing at the bottom 6 o'clock position. I must admit, it is very bright, but maybe too bright. The center spot has many tiny diamond like shinning brilliant little pieces reflecting light. I know it is supposed to clear up when you are in focus, but mine does not get 100% clear. You can still see all those shinny little pieces unless you place your eye in a certain way at a certain angle. I wear glasses so I am limited in how I can look into the screen. Now I wish I had gotten the split image screen, especially when using the 50 Distagon. Did I put the screen in correctly or should the dull side be up and shinny side down? It seems to work both ways.

You got yourself a non Hasselblad part which makes it difficult to comment.

The screen should have 4 feet at the corners like the Hasselblad screen to rest on in the body.

If the screen has a different frame I suspect it is not suitable for your camera.
That means you can not focus correctly.

Maybe the maker of the screen, Bright Screen? will be able to help you.

Screen

Vic,
The box the screen came in says BRIGHTSCREEN "20/20, CAMERA FOCUSING SCREEN...HASSELBLAD PROCREEN #2 microprism spot, FOR 500 C, CM, EL, ELM

I have a 500 ELM and it has no screws to be removed. I just removed the old screen by moving the two levers at the sides and placing the new one in its place. When I slid in the waist level finder, it locked into place by itself.

Your new screen should have a metal frame similar to that of the screen you just removed.
If it does not have that frame you have the wrong screen.
