Just got a mint Bright Screen brand focusing screen. It has the large center spot, not the split image. No instructions came with it. I was not sure which way to place it into the camera. There is a dull side and a shinny side. When the shinny side is up, I notice writing on the bottom of the frame. I assumed this is the way it should go into the camera, with the shinny side up and the writing at the bottom 6 o'clock position. I must admit, it is very bright, but maybe too bright. The center spot has many tiny diamond like shinning brilliant little pieces reflecting light. I know it is supposed to clear up when you are in focus, but mine does not get 100% clear. You can still see all those shinny little pieces unless you place your eye in a certain way at a certain angle. I wear glasses so I am limited in how I can look into the screen. Now I wish I had gotten the split image screen, especially when using the 50 Distagon. Did I put the screen in correctly or should the dull side be up and shinny side down? It seems to work both ways.
