big problem avoided but still some questions

I just had a piece of the backing paper from my film break off some how in the A12 back while the back was still attached to my 203FE and could not get the dark slide back in completely so the back could not be taken off.

I rewound the film and luckily the piece of backing loosened up so the slide went in.

In the future, if this happens again or if the foam breaks off and the slide cannot be completely inserted, is there a way to remove the back from the camera without the slide pushed in completely?

Big Problem Avoided...

You may be forced to simply remove the insert, destroying your film, to clear the magazine. If you do this in a changing bag, you may be able to rescue the exposed frames.
But I cannot think of another way to easily get a back off until you get a dark slide in all the way.
