The last two years I've spent playing with a Leica M9. I enjoyed it's portability and the lens and 24 Mpxl sensor has been good. My poor old 205FCC / CFV-16 languished in the dehumidifier cabinet.
A year or two ago I did take a look at the CFV-39 but did not see enough improvement to justify the price, especially given the resale value of the CFV-16. Plus, my credit card was still wounded from the Leica lenses.
The M9 continued to be my camera of choice but, looking at my LIght Room library, both the quality and quantity of my "keepers" reduced. The M9 was not inspiring me to go out image hunting. Never made the RF transition.
But, last night, I woke up at 2am with a thought that just popped into my head, "I want to get back to some top quality photography. Hasselblad!
Today I took a look at some H Series options but once again was scared off by price. I don't need auto-focus. And I could not see an equivalent of my favorite FE110 f2 in the H series lens catalog.
But, then I looked at the CFV-50. It will let me use the camera and lenses that have stood me well over the last 14 years. Removes some of the crop factor of the CFV-16. And gives a deep rich quality image.
So, if all goes to plan, next week in HK I'll be collecting my CFV-50 and getting the 205FCC checked out by the technician.
I look forward to being a 'blad boy again...
Regards
