My name is Graham and I live in St. Augustine, FL which is America's oldest permanently inhabited city. I will be retiring next year and a few years ago, with my wife's encouragement, decided to make photography my hobby.
I have been shooting Nikons starting with an N65 (I guess they would call it an F65 now), and gradually moved up the ladder to an F100, F5, D2X and D300. I had an F3HP for awhile but had trouble getting the images in focus.
Last year I decided to try Medium Format and started out with a Mamiya RB67 and built that into a very nice system. The down side was that it is very cumbersome and heavy to carry around. Other than that (and it's a big "other") I really enjoy the camera. Earlier this year I added a Pentax 645N so that I could have a more SLR like camera. I enjoyed the portability and auto focus but I missed the methodical process of the RB67.
After posting a question on photo.net as to which of the two cameras I should sell, someone suggested I sell them both and buy a Hasselblad. And so now I am the proud owner of a 500C/M, a 100mm f/3.5 and 500mm f/8 lenses. I just received it two days ago, and haven't even loaded the film yet! I can already tell that I am going to love using this machine. It has the lightweight portability of the Pentax 645N combined with the fully manual process which I love on the RB67. Combine that with Zeiss lenses and how could I go wrong? Hope it's okay to say this here, but I love KEH. They are my favorite toy store!
I enjoy all forms of photography including landscapes, weddings (strictly amateur), and photojournalism type shots. My real passion is traveling to the Kennedy Space Center and shooting Space Shuttle launches. I have done 5 so far, and plan on shooting my 6th. this coming Tuesday at 1:36 a.m. I am very lucky that my local paper accepts photographs from me for periodic publication thus earning me the right to being approved for Press Media credentials which allows me to get up close and personal. Of course, my Hasselblad will feel right at home with NASA.
I already feel some newbie questions coming on, and so you can look for me to become am active and, hopefully, productive member of this forum.
Looking forward to "meeting" many of you.
