Acute matte D - opinions?

Hello there!

I am sure this question has popped up in the past, but couldn't find anything while browsing through the forum. Anyone with experience using the acute matte D? I have a 500 classic with the acute matte focusing screen, and i don't know if the D one is so much better to justify the cost.
Any opinion would be appreciated.
 
The Acute Matte D is an improvement but not so much that I would spend around
400 USD on the new D model if I had the early one.

The D screen does not saturate with brightly lit subjects like the early AM.
This is best shown when focusing on a bare lamp bulb.
Contrary to popular believe the D models are not brighter.
The point of focus is also more acurate compared with the early AM.
The focus point is better marked. Do not think of this as anything dramatic.

I have two used AM D screens and some early AM models for sale.
