A couple newbie questions . . .

I picked up the metered advance knob, which I look forward to using - a search for info on it brought me to this site.
Hee's the first question - with older cameras/meters degeneration of the selenium cell is an issue - is it with these as well? If so how long does it take and should I try to "cap it when not in use"?

For the 2nd question is odder . . .
Why are Hassy lens hoods square? Is this just some of them or would a round hood interfere with the shot?

The meter knob is a nice thing to have but check yours with another meter to get an idea how acurate it is.

You need some luck with the selenium cel.
It is impossible to tell how long it will löive or give acurate readings.
Storing the meter in a closed box could prolong its life.

Not all hoods made for Hasselblad lenses are square.
The ones for C series wide angkles are round.
Square ones could be more effective although Hasselblad has a peculiar policy here.
There is only one hood for all lenses over 80 mm meaning all lenses from 100 mm till 250 mm share the same hood.

I'll definately check it out.

The reason I was asking is that certain hoods I've seen were square.
So I guess my 120 CF will be a round one and my 80 T?

All hoods for CF series lenses are square.

There are three hoods:
38-60 mm
80 mm
100-250 mm

Longer lenses like the 350 CF and the 500 CF were supplied with round hoods.

Older WA like the Super Wides and the 50 mm and 60 mm Distagons from the C series have round hoods.
