I have just Bought a Hasselblad 80mm CFE. Planar (which I have never used it on My 203 FE ) I am very excited to get it on this coming Monday. I am asking you guys, with your experience what do you find about this lens. and it's quality compare to lens in this focal length . Thanks for your time for answer to this and I really appreciate for your informations.

regards,
Cyril:)

Well the planar 80mm/2.8 is a lens that was first offered in 1957 for Hasselblad. No real improvment except T* multicoating in 1965. Then for Nasa, Hasselabld/Zeiss offered the 100mm that give better quality. Interesting too, the 110mm/2.0 that apears to be excellent at 5.6.
Of course the Planar 80mm is better than the Tessar that was discontinued in 1956. Never understood why Hasselblad choose this old technology lens for the CWD (digital) kit.

Just for the sake of accuracy the lens did benefit from a redesign in 1961, it went from a 6 element design to 7 element. Coinciding with the serial number commencing with the number 3. Apart from the T* coating you mention other important benefits over the years was the huge improvement of internal blacking resulting in improved contrast.

Thanks for info.

Now I have 2x C 80mm one from 1957 and athoter from 1965. I did not noticed any quality differences till now. Lokking at this closely, the front ring that carry the first lens seams to be little different now.
One day I will take time to compare results with my cfv. Anyway no 80mm are as good as my C 100/3.5 but for portrait it's not allways a problem
How to get info about Zeiss lenses. http://www.hasselbladhistorical.eu/ is interesting to begin (exept the lens number calculator that works only one time !) but then no info about when a lens began or was replaced. I'm looking for a 1960 C 60mm/5.6 (I have one for my 1000F only) that is excelent in the center /poor elsewhere.
