45 degree prism and 555eld -- focusing problem

Alright, I was looking for the best place to post this, and I guess this thread is the closest to it.

I bought a 555 eld Hasselblad camera a couple of weeks ago, a 150mm lens, and a 45° (Blad) metered prism.
Everything seems to work just fine, but I have a concern with the prism.
I can get a clean focus without the prism, but when it is mounted, I can't focus anymore...
I removed the eyepiece to see if there was an additional lens, but nothing. But I noticed that focusing could be done easily WITHOUT the eyepiece lens (I believe some people call it a diopter)....
It seems there is no adjustment possible for the eyepiece, and I suspect the diopter might be a different from the original one, adjusted to the view of the previous owner. But I'm not sure and don't know how to check this or make sure which diopter I should get to solve the problem...

If someone knows more about it than I do (that should be pretty easy :/), please let me know!
Thanks!!

Welcome here thib,

It is easy to check the correct diopter lens for your eyes is fitted to the prism.

1. Remove the lens from the camera.

2. Fit the prism to the camera.

3. Look through the prism and check that the cross hairs or other marks on the focusing screen are sharply focused.

If the camera came with a waist level finder compare the results to be sure.

Diopter lenses for older 45 prisms are not marked.
That means it is difficult to check whether a lens with correction for the personal use of the former owner was fitted.

In general the diopter value as prescribed for reading glasses is not the correct value for a correction with prisms.

Hi. Thanks a lot for the help. There was indeed a correction lens. I removed it, and now everything's fine.
Thanks again!
