Hi there...the 205 TCC body has in-camera light meter of 3 degrees and a zone system metering function I believe....can anyone enlighten me on how it all works and whether worth getting.....can these bodies be used to meter C lenses with the lens shutter 'disconnected' to use the body shutter.....I have a 50mm C lens that's misfiring at 1 sec. 2 secs.....

I believe the C lenses have no "F" setting as the CF lenses and has to use thru-lens shutter only on 205TCC body. For metering, as there is no electric contact like CFE or FE lenses, C lenses has to stop down before metering.

For zone mode operation see the following:

Questions...what do you mean by "has to use thru-lens shutter only on 205TCC body" and what do you mean by C lenses have to stop down before metering.....

1. As the C lens has no "F" setting, the c lens shutter will fire together with the focal plane shutter of the body without synchronisation. As such, it may not able to make exposure or with correct exposure. Using the shutter of C lens is the only way to make sure correct exposure is made with the 205TCC body.

2. As C lens do not have electric contact to pass the maximum aperture information to 205TCC body. Therefore, metering measurement has to be made with aperture stopped down to the working aperture. I.e. cannot meter with full aperture unless it is used for exposure.

would the 201F be a better camera to use with C lenses to take out the lens shutter? as I said, I have out of synch lens shutters (esp. 1 sec 2 secs) on C lenses....

My advice is to spend some money on the C lenses instead of buying another body.
Shutters that do not perform like they should at slow speeds are in need of cleaning and a bit of fresh lubricant.
It is not only slow speeds that are inoperable now but the mechanism suffers fom unnecessary wear at all speeds because it lacks correct lubrication.

To use any of the four F bodies with built in light meter without lenses from the TCC/FE range is a waste.
Light metering with other lenses is only possible with stop down method.
These lenses also limit the possibilities for auto exposure.

Those not familiar with spot or selective metering are advised to read some more on the subject before a 205 TCC or FCC camera is bought.

just the sort of advice i needed to hear.....thanks as always....I'll look into it...the C lenses are great....I have a 50mm, 150mm and a 250mm

.....can anyone recommend a good Hasselblad service place in UK and/or Spain...perhaps I should post as a new thread?
