Greetings to all.....
Once again on flash options, does any one know if the SCA390 adapter for Hasselblad will allow the use of the Nikon SB800 Flash, or is it just for Metz?
......Thanks to All, I have purched this 503cw kit just because of this terrific meeting place.
 
The SCA390 adapter is for the use of Metz flash only. However, in the past before I got my Metz, I used SB800 in A(Non-TTL automatic flash mode) using a PC sync cord to connect from the Nikon SB800 to the Hasselblad lens sync connector. You can also use Manual mode on your Nikon SB800 to give you the total control of flash output, but it requires some metering using a flash meter to get the result you wanted.

Paul, Thanks for the info using the PC cord, it worked, and I bought a used D40 for now, but it looks like everyone likes Metz...Thanks again...
 
Maurice, not everyone!

I have both the D40 and Metz - I far prefer the light from the D40. But sadly it's of limited power as too (to a lesser extent) is the Metz.

So, when I have the funds to get some real power I will definitely buy a Quantum - get some real flash power and similar lovely light to the D40.
 
Simon, I have thought about the Quantum many times and have a friend that is probably the President of the Q-Flash cult, so I probably will buy one soon, I like all the options..Thanks
 
I also think the Metz 54 MZ-4i that I use does not have enough power at least for my needs. The Nikon SB800 was stronger, but it was still not powerful enough. I like them both however as they can be mounted on my PME-45.

Question is which mountable Quantum flash is powerful ? Also will it work with the 503cw's TTL, what is needed ? The Metz works through the SCA-390, Nikon doesn't (can only do Auto or Manual).

I've used it from the upper bleachers during outdoor rodeos, and gotten to the far side of the ring w/out a problem.
