FUC another survivor

Another survivor from the early years of Hasselblad cameras just turned up.
This is the rare Supreme Wide Angle built in 1954.
These predecessors of the SWC series are still going strong and will give the same IQ as any later Super Wide camera.
A collectors piece? Of course but also a camera that can still be used.

The SWA is sold now for too little money.
I am sorry but I can not save all these unique cameras.
This one was only three weeks younger than my SWA.

Another lens from the same era was just found.
That one will be part of my collection of early Hasselblad cameras.

For those who wonder what FUC stands for; it is a virtual club of users of pre '57 Hasselblad cameras.
FUC: F Users Club.
Membership is free. No AGM, no fees. Just a lot of fun and support to keep early Hasselblads going.
All who own a Hasselblad camera that was built before 1957 are invited to join the FUC.
In fact you get a lifetime membership by buying a 1000F camera.
Those can be found from 500 USD and more for excellent fully serviced cameras.

The Kodak lens in the former post was made for this camera : 1600F with Kodak 80 mm Ektar lens.

Hello Jürgen,

Is it true the Vintage Queen is about to have a facelift?
You know the problem that comes after a facelift:
Hands, neck and the eyes still show the right date of birth, not to mention the rest of the anatomy.

It can be smart to stay away from facelifts unless of course there are certain defects that do not fit in with the rest.
That is why your excellent 1000F camera will get a used winding/shutterspeed knob. A very good one but not a new winder.

That job will start later this month. First my 1600F gets a pair of new springs for the shutter. Those springs and new lubricants is all that camera needs to become another 1600F in good working condition.
Amazing after 57 years, only new springs to be ready for the next 10 years at least.

I am still traveling and don't have my Hassy books...Will a 1000F work with CF lenses in the "F" position? My '66 SWC, that I haven't seen yet, won't get me into the FUC club but I will have start looking for a 1000F.

I'll get to use the SWCD as a walk around camera in San Francisco next week.

With a 1000F you enter a Hasselblad era that you are not familiar with yet.
You are going back in time. The 1000F was produced from 1954 till 1957.
Lenses excellent Carl Zeiss or the much sought after Kodak Ektars.

Buying a 1000F is not a problem. Buying a good one with recent service history is what its all about.
A good one is a joy for ever. Once serviced by a good technician they will have about the same reliability as an early 500C camera.

About the SWC I am sure you will love that little camera. Both for the results but also because it allows you to take pictures without drawing much attention.
I used the SWC quite often with 1/15 shutterspeed and a steady hand.
Some of may best pictures were made that way using 800 ISO Portra.
The 800 Iso should be possible with a CFV as well as far as I know.

I think it is better to be discrete where a facelift for the Queen is concerned.

The thing about the SWA is that I do my utmost but sofar I have not even heard a whisper from your end what your intentions are.

The 1000F can use CZ lenses as well as the Kodak Ektars. But note that the early Hasselblads (1000F, 1600F) have a different lens mount so your existing CZ lenses won't fit.
