Digital back

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to use a digital back on a 500cm? If so, please elaborate.

Jake,

There's a table on Hasselblad's website (http://www.hasselblad.se) that shows what digital back will work on what Hasselblad camera.

Go to the site, click on "Products". Next, in the menu on the left, click on "V system", then on "digital photography". Scroll down and click on "Digital backs". Scroll down again, and click on "Information table".

The 500 C/M isn;t listed in the table, since it is not a current product. But anything that will work on the 501 CM will work on the 500 C(/M) too.

I'm surprised to see only a few back will work on the 203FE and 205FCC.
You'd expect not having electronics to be a limitation, not the other way round.

Why can't you use a back for the 501cm on a 203 of 205?

The digital backs only work if the shutter is wide open, and the 203/205 uses a focal plane shutter...so unless you are shooting at flash sync speeds and below, you'll only get partial frames using the FP shutter. On the 501, as with all of the leaf shutter lenses...they can sync at any speed (in other words, they go to fully open at any shutter speed), and these can work with the digital backs...so my belief would be that you could simply use a CF(E) lense with the 203/5 and it should work the same as with the 501.

I have a Phase One H5 for sale, I don't use it anymore.
CCD size is 24x36 mm as in 35mm film.

Any body interested, please contact me at anzac@centrin.net.id

Condition: 90%, only a bit glue stain in the ir filter covering the ccd, but will
have no effect on your photo whatsoever. Never show any worse since I bought it.
CCD untouched, never been repaired, everything as it is since buying.
Have fire wire cable (1), sync cable for lens to back, cable for hassy body wth motor,
latest software both for pc & mac, bonus ccd cleaner (swap system) using liquid,
viewfinder masking for H5.

I would also need help or suggestion on how to deal if anyone interested,
on payment, shipping etc. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Anton
